Biography

Dr. Mengmeng Sun earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, under the supervision of Prof. Hui Xie. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong as a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Prof. Li Zhang. Later, he received a prestigious Humboldt Foundation grant to conduct research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Germany with Prof. Metin Sitti. Dr. Sun eventually returned to Singapore, where he established his own research group. His research focuses on miniature robots, with a special emphasis on their medical applications. To date, he has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier international journals, including Science Robotics, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Advanced Materials. His work has also garnered attention from major media outlets such as the BBC, CNN, and others, underscoring the impact of his contributions to the field of miniature robotics.
